If I had a chance to take one of my kohaku in a show I would have put 'Riki-sleepy' into the beginner's tub and probably hit your koi on the head with a folding chair.

Not Tom here David, but as a matter of fact, YES, the yondan you got is from Rikidouzan. I just looked her up & she was 54.6cm when she arrived here. She should be much bigger now. Have you measured her lately? About 63cm now???

    Ryan,
I haven't measured her lately..she is doing really good. I would guess she is 22-24"....

Interesting bit of history thanks for sharing.....Duc thanks for confirming the koi is from Sakai, as that helps me fill in some gaps on it's genetic background and for SK, interesting pictures of the parent and young produced, thanks for posting.
I know that they have been setting aside her genetcis during the years she was bred, just for such a happenstance.
Some offsprings of Rikidozan in Dainichi auction! Yonsai.

yes thanks Brett, glad I'm not the only one who finds out what and from where a name comes.
Dick, only an American could come up with a word like ''HAPPENSTANCE ''
Two countries separated by one language !!

This thread shows what effect a single Koi can have, that Koi had such a beautiful shape, true curves , not bulges
