    dates on koi certificates

I was looking thru my momotaro (sanke & Showa) and dainiichi (sanke)
certificates and it dawned on me all three were dated june 9th as birthdate. Thought that was TOO coincidental. is there some reason
this date is chosen over actual?

If it was just the Momotaro, I'd be thinking that it might be the spawning date, or the date of release to the mudponds. For the Dainichi certificate to give the same date certainly makes it seem there could be a traditional date involved, doesn't it? Very curious.

    Hi Dick,

I think they are coincidental or does anyone know if there is significance? Like some lunar calendar dates that may be the same?

I just took a look at some certificates from Dainichi and they range from June 7th to June 9th (not all the same year, but the ones of the same age are from the same day).

    Best,

    Duc

I have an Omosako certificate dated May 5, 2009. I always assumed it was a spawning date.

I'm not aware of any significance of that date, I would suggest pure co-incidence.

When you consider that both Momotaro and Dainichi will be spawning many parents on the same evening it's no co-incidence that different varieties from the same breeder may have the same birth date.
