    CCKS 33rd Annual Koi Show

The Central California Koi Society has completed it's 33rd annual show and it was a great event. While there are tons of photographs to be shared, I only have the powerpoint that we showed at the banquet. We had 21 show tanks, 118 fish, and people from both Northern and Southern California and points in between.

We had a lot of help from many different people getting it set up and benching and all that sort of stuff. Special thanks to our judges, Norm Call and Grant Fujita.

The powerpoint is just simple and I'll add some narrations to it in the next few days to give the slides some life, but for now, here it is for you to see.

Every show should have some koi humor added. I had to smile. Congrats to all.

Last June at the AKCA Annual Business Meeting, Banquet and KHA Wet Lab we met Greg & Gloria Mariano and Seng & Rosimeri Tran from the CentCal club. They invited Brenda & I up for their 33rd Annual Show and said they'd put us to work. We took them up on their invitation - and did they ever put us to work.

We only took two koi (both size 3) and after a 4+ hour drive pulled into the Fig Gardens shopping center, where the show was held in the central parking lot. It was about 3:30 and the temperature was 105. When Louie and Ginger Hernandez arrived from SoCal, and we helped unload their transport tank, their tank water had climbed 10 degrees.

We benched 20 tanks by 8 pm; benched the last tank the next morning.

Dinner was at the Black Angus with Greg & Gloria, Seng & Rosimeri, Sean and Amanda (Big Hat) Stephens and the two judges (Norm Call, Head Judge, and Grant Fujita, Guest Judge).

This CentCal show turned into something of a battle for state bragging rights since NorCal had 4 tanks, SoCal had 4 tanks, Bakersfield had 3 tanks and the home team had the remaining 10 tanks.

Here are some people pix; hope to get fish pix from Michael Hernandez, who was kind enough to take glam shots of the winners.
