Ryan looks like he belongs in a judge's uniform. We won't mention Donny, who looks quite miserable being without a suitable jacket, namely ill prepared for the cruel and harsh California climate.

80 and sunny here this afternoon

There were some no-shows because of the rain.

since rain is a consistent problem why not look for an indoor venue?
I would love to come to the show but it seems like it rains every year

There are advantages and disadvantages to holding a Koi show indoors.

In the case of the SoCal ZNA Koi show there is a huge tradition AND the City of Gardena, CA is a co-sponsor.

And besides, this year rain was not an issue on Friday and Sunday.

Good morning, it was a great show! Albeit it 'slightly' wet! LOLs

The koi didn't seem to mind the rain. And spirits were high so we had a good show inspite of the weather.
Great seeing some new faces and all the well known faces in koi!

And as always is the case with the SoCal annual show, 'new' things were introduced in America-- for one, a new judging system for judges, new information on judging trends and news from on site breeders like Dainichi.

Our KOI AMERICA DISTRICT AWARD this year was a tategoi hand selected by Mono San himself from his selected jumbo stock. Very special oppotrunity to get a hand selected fish from the man who bred the ALL Japan show champion this year! Special thanks to Ron Goforth for arranging things in Japan and a thank you to Ken from Eastern Nishikigoi for his professional handling of these special jumbo tategoi.
Please support Eastern Nishikigoi as they give so freely and kindly to ZNA. That kind of support is invaluable to us and needs to be supported.

At the show site- I saw, Grant Fugita, Bob and Joan Finnegan, Don and Brenda Chandler, Dick Thomas, Henry Nakamuri, Ben Plonski, The mystic koi father and son, Jack Chang, Lim, Pam Spindola, Dainichi, Andy Moo, Allen Stein, Don K, Karen, Judy, Linda S., ray Jordan, The Lembke's, Debby Tibbets and Dave, Erwin, Ryan, Junichi, Larry G, Ken Tran, The one and only Chai, The famous actor Mr Hernandez, Jasper all the way from Europe, Richard R, Mike Frady, Yokoyama San, The heart of Socal volunteers and members, the Hetticks and all the new serious koi kichi that are coming up and raising the bar and the eye of American ZNA members--- I felt at home. Thanks for everything! JR

    Great show!

No rain on Friday afternoon when I brought our Koi to she show. But as tradition keeps its tradition Rain on Saturday 6the judging day. Lots of Sun and more wind then I could even imagine this year.
    Still a great show.
