38th ZNA SoCal Koi Show at 38th ZNA SoCal Koi Show (Saturday March 17, 2012) - Upcoming
Hope this will help to spread out the news....
Dinh, you do such nice things for shows. Getting out the word for shows builds interest in all shows. SoCal is the show with the longest tradition that attracts attention from all over; and NorCal is becoming another west coast show everybody wants to attend. Some year, I'm going to get to the California shows.

This is a good opportunity for a rant---
There are ten ZNA chapters. Four spanning the east coast-
Tri-state-- NY, NJ, Ct and long island
MAKC ZNA-- the traditional mid-atlantic region
Potomac ZNA -- Mid-altantic region south
Southern Koi Association ZNA- Florida and surrounding southern states
Three spanning the west coast -
Pacific North west ZNA - washington/Oregon
NoCal ZNA - Northern California
SoCal ZNA -Southern California
Three in the heart of the country-
Moto Kara kai - Texas ( Houston)
San Antonio ZNA - texas ( San Antonio)
North Mid western ZNA - Ill, Indiana.
These all together make up ZNA in America. They are not members of an association but rather arms and legs of one body! This is a fraternity of members who belong to the world wide koi fanciers club based in Beppu Japan known as ZNA .
If you take note of the # on Dinh's poster, you will see the number of this annual show-- check it out--- it reads 38. We just had the oldest continually running 'westminster dog show' of koi in Tokyo last week-- check that number out and do the math. make a point?
Southern California ZNA is the oldest continual koi show in America. Everyone has made a pilgrimage to this show at one point or another. Much of it is easy to relate to as are any long standing traditions. Some love to go to 'Bruce' concerts or the Westminster dog show. Koi kichi love to go to SoCal for that simple show held on the grounds of the town of Gardina's civic center. The presidents of all the chapters will be there. The whos who of Koi culture in America.
The koi are always a surprise as some years the heavy weights show and in other years it is the membership that fills the tanks and makes the show. Koi shows are really fun when ringers show up-- very exciting. and shows where the members bring their best and manage to fill tanks with excellent and obtainable show fish is also a wonderful sight. At SoCal you will see both.
The judging seminar this year is an offical one! That is credit for the ZNA judging core and also a chance for exhibitors to judge along side some of the best judges in the country. A simple donation gets you an incredible experience and real insight as to what makes a koi special.
the head judge is always from Japan. And no break in that tradition at all. things can always change last minute but for now, the well known,
Koji Nose San (Certified Judge, now ZNA Executive Director, and soon to be ZNA Vice-chairman from this April) , will travel all the way from Japan to see and be part of this show. That's saying something. But just as incredible, and often unsong, with be dozens of others that travel from all the countries chapters to be part of this annual event. Why? To be part of it as so many others have over the past 38 years. A very special event. JR
NorCal had the Feb monthly meeting yesterday. The club voted to host the ZNA Maerica President meeting at our show in April fo 2013 if ZNA Amarica wants to have the 2013 ZNA America Seminar and President meeting here in San Francisco Bay Area....
Also, ZNA America Website www.znaamerica.org now has many great education articles posted by JR for recently. Excellent stuffs. Excellent writing JR.

Thanks Dinh, I look forward to being at the NoCal show in 2013 and hope our President's board votes to approve your chapter's generous offer. As District Chairman I support you all 100% and hold your ZNA spirit up as one of the best of the best. JR
We are preparing for the 2013 show and ZNA America Seminar & President Meeting if the ZNA America wants to take our venue here in NorCal....
NorCal is open it heart to welcome ZNA America to NorCal, "The Home Of The Gosanke".....

Dinh and fellow koi kichi's do an outstanding job promoting koi shows on this board!!! Mark your calendars for the ZNA SoCal Koi Show 2012. Last year was a great event and this year promises to be a blast! Just take a look at this short teaser video clip......Welcome to the ZNA SoCal Koi Show! See you at the koi show!
Thanks Q. Can't help but just love the ZNA SoCal show. I love every minute each time attending the show and it just reminds us that the ZNA flame was first started there and started building the koi spirit around the nation for the love and passion for koi. As always, our deepest appreciation to the fathers of ZNA SoCal, who have built the best of all for the koi hobby for all of us to enjoy today. With that, we are here in NorCal always promote and support the SoCal show. Let's continue building the hobby.
This is one of the permiere koi shows in America. I hope you all can attend the show if possible.
Best,
--D
