Question ? Mazuri Koi food made by Purina, Is It Good?

Mazuri Koi-I want to know If this is a good product?
Purina is the company that makes it .(I think)

Also, I think im going to write one of my college reports, on this company, so any questions that get brought up here I might ask them & I may go on a little adventure to the company/Firm.

Mazuri is a product line not a single product.

    Questions for you:

What do you define a "good" koi food? Is it the ingredients, the reputation/history/recomendations, and/or the cost?

Which Mazuri foods are you selecting? How do their ingredients stack up with similar products from Hikari or other major brands? What about cost/value? Who in koidom is recommending the product in question?

Do a search on this site to get you started. You will find the product line has been discussed in the past.

    For example: Mazuri Koi Food?
Koi keeping is not a belief system; it is applied science with a touch of artistry.

At the last AKCA convention, I spent a lot of time with one of their spokespersons. Extreme knowledgeable and comes off quite convincing.
their fame as an animal feed specialist adds to the sense of respectability.

I think MCA is correct in asking you to do your homework on what ingredients contribute to a koi's health.

Chris Neeves from south africa got me interested in this topic decades ago, and ever since I have put a lot of time and energy into keeping up.

If you get a chance talk to some other manufacturers of koi food and ask questions of them to add to your knowledge. I would suggest matt at kenzen, michael at Tomi-gai, jason at kodama for shinju, and joel at mizuho. Two of these manufacturers use potato starch as an ingredient. What benefit would that have? these are the type of questions you need answered.

it's an important topic and i hope you don't make light of it.

I have used Mazuri Koi food for years and recently stopped.

    The reason?

I have decided that Mazuri Koi food is not as good as Ultra Balance Premium All-Season Koi Diet and Hai Feng Quick Grow Low Fat Wheat Germ Koi food based on the ingredients label.

    The three are inexpensive and priced about the same;

    Which would you prefer?
The following is from their web sites.

I think when you see in an ingredients list of a singular product like corn or wheat
broken down into smaller groupings, IMHO they should all be added up together
so that you can now see their honest Combined % in the list. I honestly feel that by breaking it down into smaller percentages, it is a manipulation of the truth.
