Any work while doing spring maintenance for your pond?

What do you normally do while doing the spring or major maintenance for your pond? I worked on one of my California Junipers today.

    Here is before and after....

Not exactly routine maintenance....but I have to reconnect the showers this week. There are normally bypassed for the winter. This winter I overhauled the filters and did not reconnect the showers.

So now with water temps in the 60s and daytime air temps in the high 60s to low 70s, time to replumb the shower boxex, clean the BH media as needed, and maybe add some crushed oyster shells (we have soft water). I want the showers on before I start the transition from 100 wheatgerm to mix of wheatgerm and high protein.
