    Flashing

I noticed yesterday that one of my Koi were flashing. I have been watching them today and don't see any flashing should I be concerned or do they do that from time to time. Thanks cory

It would be a good idea to catch at least one and scrap some slime off and have a look see under a microscope. I would suspect flukes.

And with parasites...if one fish has them....all are exposed. So treat the entire pond system including filters.

Would Prazi be the best treatment. That's what I found online.

The lowest cost of treatment is PP. I would by pass the filters and give 2 treatments a few days apart. However if in the next few weeks you see flashing then do filters as well. Sometimes a fish will flash for no apparent reason so observe and as soon as you see two flashing then treat.
    That works for me.

I have personally found out the hard way that Prazi even though it is very kind to the fish it does not eliminate all the Flukes.

If you going to order on line the best way to eliminate Flukes is Suparverm in combination with 0.3 % salt. You will run it through your filters like Prazi but you have to remove any plants from your pond because they will die or get knocked pretty bad.

Treat your plants with P.P. because they might be hosts. Do not return the plants in the pond for at least two weeks after treatment.

I prefer a second treatment of Suparverm 5 days after the first treatment to make sure the flukes are knocked back for sure.

Suparverm is not as mild as prazi so your fish will act up but is way more effective and much cheaper.

If you do not treat your pond with salt at the same time I found out that it is less effective even harsher to the fish and you definitively will need a second treatment on day 5 after the first treatment.

    Good luck.

If I bypass my filters for a couple days won't all the beneficial bacteria die.
