    11th Annual NMZNA Show

This past weekend the Northern Midwest Zen Nippon Airinkai held their Annual Show in Carmel, In. (Indianapolis).

The Show Koi were located under a very large gazebo, while the Vendors were located in a near by tent area.

The Show was held near a Japanese Garden & along with a Festival.

Good report Troy. Looks like a good event! Dick does a great job with your chapter-- untireless and dedicated.

As DC I appreciate you mentioning the teaching aspect of our ZNA judges. This year at the Annual ZNA President's Meeting, I reminded all that attended that our ZNA judges were and remain the source of unbiased information for the membership. Each chapter has judges of all stages of development that are instructors and advisors for their local members.
This is an important distinction in that most think of generic koi judges as someone who comes to a koi show to pick fish as 1st, 2nd or 3rd. In truth, a good judge, a ZNA judge, 'works' 365 days a year with his fellow chapter members to help them discover the fascinating world of koi appreciation. And when invited to judge another chapter, that judge continues within our fraternity, to teach those members what he or she has learned. It is this cross pollenization of local ideas that enriches ZNA in America.
ZNA's motto has always been " friendship through scales". Meaning that like-minded koi kichi ( koi crazy fancy koi keepers) share in their mutual fascination with this distinctly Japanese art form.
Here in America I also like to think that our motto is " teaching and learning through our ZNA traditions".

JR, I still recall You & Steve C. speaking with me for about an Hour at a past NMZNA Show. Sorry, But you can't get that on a Forum.

    Back to the Show.

The Grand Champion was a Sanke owned by Bry & Bay Bateman. This Koi is in the 82Cm to 84cm range.

very nice. And 72 cm ain't easy! Not with that volume! I'd like to see this fish compete with Henry's sanke-- that would take more than a few minutes to sort out!
