The Judges at our local show said the small heads of sakai koi are a demerit, I thought it was just a trait of the bloodline due to the huge bodies.

I look forward to more videos being posted. They are quite important to get a real sense of the fish..

In another thread, JR points out that photos can hide aspects of a koi's body. As an example, examine the photo of nisai Sanke #121. Then view the video a couple of times. Is there a 'tummy issue'? The photo gives little hint. The video shows a trait that I would want to examine in person.

Thanks for the post Victor! Did anyone notice the giant 87cm sansai kohaku(#1)? I did not know it's possible to grow them that fast. The pattern is a little heavy, but I like the overall quality, especially, the body comformation. My pick for sanke is #38. Sure love to see a video this fish, but none provided. :-(

Oops, just noticed the kohaku is 5 five years old...not three. Still, it's a very impressive size for that age!

    look at #126 showa
look at all the edges of beni.
when they are all good GREAT but leaves alot edges for things to be less then perfect
this koi is looking good in picture for all edges
i am drawn to this koi ALOT

    i also like #1
sure HEAVY pattern and when judgeing want to view more of top as in still picture

but how many times in our pond do we see more of an angle side of koi not just the top.this would be a great 364 day of the year(other day is show day) fish with seeing the red and white on side more to create something interesting when viewed in normal pond setting

    just stating what i see
and sure not the top pics but still something that interest me.oh and Troy pick.
