    Koi with extra pectoral fin.

I have a koi with two pectoral fin on one side. What do all ya'll think about that?

If it's breed to get both side of the pec to be double, would that be a nice circus koi?

Two pecs? Or, is it one with an opening that goes down to the muscle at the base? ...In either event, it is a cull.

Multiple appendages are unusual but not particularly remarkable (we’ve all seen the two headed turtles on TV and the calf with an extra leg). Since your extra fin is unilateral it likely an embryonic anomaly and as such is probably not heritable. In koi, unlike in goldfish, there is no interest in alternate morphologies (with the exception of long fins and doitsu). I once asked Joe Pawlek if he had considered developing alternate body styles in koi. Blackwater Koi Farm produces many longfin and doistu nishikigoi and Joe confirmed that they do occasionally see koi with very long fins, double tails and whatnot. He went on to say that at one point he kept a pond with such fish but had declined breeding them since it went outside of tradition and wasn’t likely to be profitable anyway.

    You owe us a picture.

I've seen double tails numerous times, and shrieveled pelvic fins but an addition pec is a new one. Agree it's more for a circus show and not anything one would want to own. Stil a photo would be nice....

Put it in a jar of formaldehyde and take it to OBSCURA ANTIQUES & ODDITIES in NYC.

I did name it Lefty and its a kohaku. Haha.. Well, the fish is about 3" so it's very small. The pec was very hard to take, but here it is. Can you see the double fin? And yes, there are two separate fins that are not attached. One of them is a little bit smaller then the other.
