    Niigata Breeders Auction

Since we've had the eye candy of the auctions of SFF and Momotaro, consider the Niigata Breeders auction, which is truly a community affair. Mark Gardner has a link at his blog and his top picks. I want someone to enter the Teradomari tosai Tancho Showa in a show right away. What a gorgeous little fish! And, the Miyaishi 75cm Hi Utsuri is a rare one. The typical speckling is nearly absent... some might say entirely absent if they did not examine her closely.

    Check it out.

    Yep, sweet asagi.

Ooya is getting famous for them and sanke. I know Duc will pick one up in the fall.

Yep, she is a true jewel. The eveness of the scalation is so pleasing and the white head and fins are stunning. The belly is only beginning to show red coming in, which is good for her future. I do not think any Asagi lovers would turn her down.

I get used to looking at the grand gosanke from SFF and Momotaro. Those are serious koi. They insist on serious thoughts. The nice thing about the Niigata breeders auction is that it has a full range of varieties that are just fun to enjoy. If you can adjust your thinking to the idea of a 45cm koi being nisai, not a jumbo tosai; that 9-inch tosai are normal, not dwarfed, then you can just enjoy imagining how some would look in your pond.
