I'd like to share....my last year 555 Selection.

Pictures of my now nisei from Quality Koi (Nisei Koi Farm). In preperation for spring I made arrangenents to evaulate my fish at the farm and pick up whichever one would not stay. Their 555 Event is commig up on May 5th and I like to take part in the fun. One, my 555 from last year a positive female and the other a BTTN fish, from a breeders choice group, undetermined sex in the fall. The multi-stepted fish on the left is the one I took home. Both fish are very good quality but Mat advised that the big beni patterened fish having large shoulers would bennifet more from the mud pond expierence. So the fish that I got in last years 555 Event is going to spend the summer in the mud. I am now looking forward to the comming May 5th event.

Ah, Joyce, the odd head pattern makes me smile. I'd name her 'Funny Face', but she might deserve a more upscale, like 'Pierrot' (French for 'clown') . When she is larger, and the pattern breaks are clean, you'll have a 6-step Sanke. We definitely do not see many of those!

I missed out on 555 last year. I got diverted by something and the ones I liked got taken. I was thinking about a couple, but was too slow to act before the event closed out. Nonetheless, I did have some of Mat's tosai to raise up in my own pond, and one is a definite keeper for at least a couple more years.

I have no room whatsoever in my pond, but that's not stopped me from doing 555 before! LOL... it is so much fun anticipating what they will be like when they come out of the mud as nisai. This year, I'm really interested in how the Shiro Utsuri have come out. I understand there are a few deemed worthy of mudpond space. I may need to control myself and just keep repeating... there is no room, there is no room.... .
