IMO there is deformity and not just damage. A deformity is very unlikely to correct itself. I am thinking this is the case with this koi- it is unlikely to be 'normal'. As for health issue- not a concern. As long as the koi can eat and behave like other koi it should lead a full and happy life. Might I suggest Nemo as a name????

Thank you for replying , i guess i have my own Nemo now . I just was concerned about his future , since the koi is only 1 year old now is there any cases with other fishes that the fin growed partially bigger or fully later ?

    Thanks

I'm thinking genetics. surprised the fish got thru sembetsu. but it happens. ran across a kohaku today with bent head. Very few things in life are perfect. It is a living creature

Sometimes 'special needs' koi get extra attention and are doted upon...thus increasing the life expectancy.

I wanted to let you know that i had to remove him from the pond last week and put him in bag , he seemed to have epilepsy and he injured is mouth because of that also i noticed he wasn't able to see the food and when he was the other fish would push him out. He then got popped eye followed by dropsy so i decided to remove him.
