    New showa

Purchased for me from Isa last week in Niigata. It should be heading to the States for QT mid November. What a holiday treat!!! It is a nisai around 24" long.
This should be a tategoi with 1-2 more years needed to start balancing the colors.

    Wish me luck with it.

WOW, what a beautiful specimen. I dream of the day that I can have a fish with all the qualities this one has swimming in my pond. the confirmation is perfect... Only thing I'm curious and would be scared is how pretty the markings are... I had a showa that lost all it's color... but it was a little 4"er. Please keep this thread open and take lots of pictures for documenting and so we can watch this thing grow out!!!! Very impressive!!!! -Mike

Splendid. Can't wait too see all the colors come together as the sumi develops and as the beni pulls together, especially at the shoulder region. Good luck Mike!

Thanks for all the kind words. It is only now that I have redone the filtration over the past two years that I feel OK to put such a fish with serious potential in our pond. Koi pond systems are not built in a day. LOL

I dont see you get excited very often Michael, it's nice to see you so happy with your selection. Wonderful koi. A great example of how a window is not a distraction! Enjoy!

Friday night 65 boxes of koi arrived from Niigata!!! Carl picked them up and unboxed them during the night. Atlanta Koi Club members got to see them yesterday. Talk about eye candy!!! We got to see our new showa and ochiba. We also selected a kin ki utsuri. We will bring them home after weeks of rest and QT.
