Question re Kokugyo Showa 4yr Old 68cm

This showa was at the recently held Dainichi auction.. On its 4th year, it is a modest 68 cm in length. This leads me to think that its growth was managed. If so, can anyone venture a guess as to its size at tosai, nisai, and sansai? Would like to get an idea on managing the growth of a showa.Question re Kokugyo Showa 4yr Old 68cm-001_4y_68_kokugyo_female.jpg

My showa from the same spawning is also 68cm and still at Dainichi.

She was 54cm as nisai and 62cm as sansai.

    Hi Mike,

Dainichi koi whether its a showa or kohaku are renowned for their superb body conformation. There are Dainichi kohakus that have massive girth but grow very slow. This also includes showas of Dainichi. However there are other kohaku and showa lines of Dainichi that grow long first before they gain also the girth. Often times they do not release them early in auction as the massive girthy nice pattern great skin koi normally gets higher price. An impressive Dainichi is one that has a massive body early on and continuous to grow bigger till jumbo within 6 to 7 years. They may not reach one meter during its peak but even at 85cm they are a sight to marvel at.
