Unless the water being used to 'sprinkle' the air is cooler then pond water, it will not cool pond water unless it evaporates first.
Two ways to remove heat via evaporation. One the surface of body of water can evaporate removing heat or ambient air surrounding body of water can be cooled via water evaporation which in turn will cool body of water.
My first thought would be to cover the entire pond with 70-80% shade cloth to help remove sun's UV rays.

Outdoor misting systems do work to cool the air. Visit a South Beach cafe with misters and you definitely know they work. I am dubious of how effective they can be to cool a pond. The ground temperature has a lot more impact than the surface exposure.

flash evaporation works most efficiently when humidity is low.
