I went to a website recommended to me that summarizes international postal restrictions. I was cautioned that translation issues can arise. For Iran, what I found is below. There is reference to a general prohibition of books and print materials, and also a separate restriction on print material considered offensive, etc. I always find such duplicative/overlapping restrictions bothersome. Governments everywhere seem to enjoy complicating things. Altogether, seems USPS has grouped things together in coming up with its list, but got it right.

    What I found:

    Import restrictions
Senders should determine import restrictions from Iranian authorities before posting:
    ◾Firearms and firearm parts
    ◾Medicines
    ◾Parasites and insect killers
    ◾Photographic apparatus
    ◾Saccharine
    ◾Weapons and parts of weapons

    Gifts

Gifts should weigh not more than 10 kg.

    Special documentation

Iran imposes import quotas and requires an import permit for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit.

    Prohibitions

In addition to items prohibited by Dangerous and Prohibited Goods & Packaging Post Guide and ECI International Courier Regulations, Iran prohibits:

◾Alcoholic beverages, as well as equipment and machinery for producing wine or alcoholic beverages
◾Animal products prohibited by Islamic religion (eg pig’s or dog’s meat together with the skins, hair and wool of such animals)
◾Arms and ammunition, except with the agreement of the Defence Ministry
◾All kinds of printed material such as pictures, books, magazines, etc.
    ◾Chemical dyes
    ◾Clothing material for resale
    ◾Clothing, used
    ◾Firearms
    ◾Foodstuffs, perishable
    ◾Games
    ◾Gold and silver
    ◾Lottery tickets
◾Money (coins, bank notes and other securities, etc.)
◾Obscene or pornographic pictures and contrary to the Islamic religion
    ◾Plants
◾Printed material such as pictures, books, magazines- offensive by nature
    ◾Razor blades, used
◾Radio systems equipped as follows: single sideband, upper sideband, lower sideband, beat frequency oscillator, continuous wave, air band, police band
◾Radios equipped with an FM band having a frequency range of 76 to 87 MHz
◾Rags made of any kind of textiles
◾Subversive or immoral literature and items
    ◾Sugar
◾Textile fibres composed of artificial materials and rag fibres
    ◾Tobacco and derivatives
◾Tanning wool and textile made of wool or yarn
    ◾Toxic substances
    ◾Trademarks, false or imitated
    ◾Weapons
    ◾Wireless apparatus.

In any event, it is very sad when politics gets in the way of people making connections about something as non-political as pet fish. 'Friendship through scales' takes on new meaning.
It is not USA. It is Iran that does not allow it.

    Dear Dinh;

First of all I am so thankful for your favor. I will check this case from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Iran. Because Iran is in the sanctions therefore it is not meaning that Iran's government disallow to send books or gifts. several years ago I was free member of the Nature and the New Scientist magazine I was received near two year free magazine.

Is it possible for you to send it to the Netherlands?
There is someone she may can send it to me, but I will ask her and then let you know.

    Dear Dinh

I send a message to she, fortunately she was online and replied very fast.

She Said: Yes I will do it. Even if I get before March 30, I will bring it with myself. I will be in Iran from March 30 til April 17.

Dinh is offline for more than 5 days and I am worried about him. I hope he is fine and didn't fall in trouble.

    God Bless Him.

In the first of reading, you may think this not related to this post. but I want to show here the result and the lack of knowledge

One week a go in Isfahan there was and exhibition and show of ornamental fishes one of my friends send several butterfly koi to show and this fish was no.1 nominated fish.

I called him and to be sure he send this fish to show or not?
he said yes, but after checking we found this fish has a Abdominal cyst.
I asked if it was healthy you will send it to show?
He said: what do you think? the judges even don't know this fish is healthy or not. last year we won three awards by our kois(baby , mature and adult koi). Baby koi was poorest quality and has physical problem on dorsal fin . the judge was said this fish (baby koi) will bring you big chance of having highest quality fishes. he was interested in this fish and I sold this fish to that judge for near a pack of food price (10$) . After 3 month later he called me and said that fish has dead.

the shoulder of this fish has no scale and shoulder and are something like these
fish has 2 kind of scales one in upper side of body line and second in down of body line

Educational opportunities would certainly be beneficial.
