    If you have time

I encourage you to watch this video. It takes just short of an Hr....
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2WshkiSFpE

It is one of the best videos I've ever seen produced on the country side of japan. The artistry, cultural understanding etc is fantastic.

So why post it on a koi site? Because it takes you to lake Biwa, where Magoi was used to enlarge our nishigoi and if you've never been there you get a sense of the area.

you can thank me after viewing

    Thank you, Dick.

The closeness with nature is seldom so well portrayed. ....This is not Niigata, but it shows how life in other times would give rise to the development of koi from carp.

    Thank you, Dick.

Satoyama is a 2 part video for near 2 hours about the life of this natural water garden. We watch this move more than TV's boring movies. this Video has a very interesting quality of recording and beside Sir David Attenborough's narration made a perfect documentary about this natural water garden. I memorized near 50% of this movies dialogs. Koi keeping is a part of life, part of culture and part of Japan's eye catching beauties.

Dick, Really good. The fireworks in the frog’s eye, the contrast of the crucian carp against the common carp, the gobis making a run for it, excellent. The spring time spawn in the marsh around Lake Biwa has attracted hungry people for a long time. The connection of the people of Lake Biwa and common carp goes back a long way. Pharyngeal teeth of common carp are found in the Jomon shell mounds of Lake Biwa dating back perhaps 10,000 years. How common carp got to island Japan so early is an interesting question. And the fisherman uses fish traps when gill nets would probably catch more, but catching more doesn’t seem to be the priority. Thanks, Rob
