I have a koi that recently developed an ugly head. The ugly I refer to is that portion of the head which is scale-free, and which has developed keloid-like growth and comes out as a relief (instead of an embossing). In a recent koi show, a shiro utsuri which won a major prize also had that ugly head, to which I concluded that the ugly head is not really ugly, but just a matter of getting accultured to - see enough of it, and it becomes beautiful (lol).

Sorry I couldn't provide a picture for now, but I figure this is seen regularly enough that you would know what I'm talking about.

What are your thoughts on this phenomenom I call "ugly head?"
