    Koi, Steroid, and Court !!!

Heard of a 32" chagoi that won the Jumbo Award at the 31st Annual
ZNA SoCal Chapter Koi Show 2005 has been stripped off her award
after postshow testing showed positive for carp steriod.

First, seems like it is related to baseball, football, or other sports
    news instead of Koi Appreciation;-))

Second, I have entered koi show couple of times in the last 8 years
including one at ZNA SoCal Koi Show in 2004. But I never see any
DNA, blood, or urine was taken for testing before the shows. So here
    are some Qs.

-- Did the ZNA SoCal show committee take the blood, DNA, urine, or
any other form for steroid testing when people entering their kois for the
    2005 koi show?

-- If not, how do they know that koi has been feed for carp steroid?

-- Is there any rule/law by any koi club that will disqualify for any koi
for using steroid as laws for US and International sports?

Also, heard of the owner of that Chagoi claimed in a court deposition
that he has no knowledge of the food he used has steroid in it ...

Mr. Aquitori - Perhaps you should include "carp steroid food" in your
    "rate your koi food" thread;-))

I just have one question: Is this an insider joke I (or maybe we) canīt understand or is this really true?

    If it is true: WTF???

First I thought it was just a joke too. But NO, it's really true. I can't undertsand that either, that why I posted for questions as well.

First off, you should get your facts verified. The gentleman that wrote that in their clubs newsletter, was Dr. Alan Stein, his fish won the award. He was making a joke, Alan is a very funny man. He is the publisher of ZNA So, Cal's newsletter, if you go back and read the past newsletters, you will see that Alan always puts a twist of humor in it.
His fish was not disqualified. Nor was there ever any type of testing done.
He also made a joke about our 2 fish that won Grand Champion and Runner Up GC. It is only humor nothing more.
Lets please not start any rumors that could hurt a wonderful clubs reputation, or an individual person.

Woah, it ist better if it is a joke.

But lets think about the background: Is using roids for Koi even possible? I mean you can inject it, but what else? Will it work? Can it possibly only work for male koi?

Knows somebody more? And this time no jokes, it really interests me.

I think again with any chemicals you look for long term effects on the liver of koi which in fact will also effect the quality of skin and color.

If all else fails you will get a bunch of koi with huge foreheads and receding hi lines.. (LOL)

My attempts at humor are often thought to be serious, and I get myself in trouble. Then when I'm serious, folks break out laughing. Sometimes you just can't get it right, no matter what.
