I was a art major in high school that got 2 years done on a education degree in college before the vietnam war. i entered many a photo journalist competition and got second once.

I dpon't draw anymore but do ikebana, bonsai, japanese gardening and other forms opf art. I've written some nice haiku as well.

I certainly think an art major has certain appreciations which help in the learning curve for japanese things of interest.

Like aquitori I had some Graphic art backround printing Presses and Photo stuff.

This kinda sounds funny but Rock Climbing is my art as I call it the dance of Balance/movement on rock. Its kind of a Ballet on rock if you will.

Bonsai is very much art as you look at it from many different angles and try to create a realistc tree in mini form.

Koi is art as well and like bonsai gets very complicated. To me breeders are the artist as they are culling koi to have all of us appreciate what the see in their eyes...
