hey can you guys tell me the difference between a kigoi and a yamabuki ogon. They both look about the same in photos to me except I see the kigoi sometimes with red eyes but not always. Thanks Jack Love

    Hi,

A Kigoi is non-metalic while a Yamabuki is a metalic koi.
A Kigoi also have a more peachy colour.

A kigoi has a more orange yellow color and are non metallic. Ideally it should have the color of the leaves of a gingko biloba in autum colors. The red eyed kigoi are called aka-me.

No Luke, don't quite know how to describe the actual color, but it's not orange. It aint the color of a canary either. It's just that a yamabuki is real bright yellow, whereas kigoi are a warmer shade of yellow.

    Hi

No Russell, kigoi are wagoi as well. In fact, I hardly ever encounter a doitsu kigoi.

Maybe you're mixing up kigoi with midorigoi. Midorigoi are doitsu.
