    Sunshine in the Quarantine Tank

Some of our new koi are enjoying the sunshine coming through the windows while they hang out in the quarantine tank at Dan & Sharon Olson's home in Spokane. We checked some of them and found them perfectly clean - so next weekend our 3 new babies will leave Spokane and move to our indoor pond in Hayden Lake, Idaho - we'll post more photos when we pull them and move them to their new home.

For those of you that are interested in building a QT pond, notice the importance of natural light and plenty of air!

Mike you should leave the warmth and joy of florida and move north to the hinterland where cold and misery loves company....course being new to our community we'll have to put you in quaranteen so you might want to bring Henry C along with your for company.....that way we could all sit around a fire and have a nice koi chat like the forfathers of koi breeders in Niigata

Dick, that would not make the cold and snow better, but would put it out of mind. .... got home from Miami to find it overcast, in the 50sF today and a drippy rain. Reminds me of Fall in Philadelphia. But, an old Camellia japonica 'Monarch' began to bloom while I was away, which brightened the day. It was first planted at my in-laws home in Jacksonville in the early 1960s. We relocated it to our yard in 1978. Not a fancy variety, but an early bloomer... one of the many reasons we cannot move to a different house.

As i sit here reading your response mike, I'm looking out the window at my camellia. About the same age. Because of the weather here "japonica's " bloom in March, sasanquah's in january.

I wish there was a time that a bunch of koi kichi's could get together for a face to face share...including Gene and Phyllis who started this thread.

Gene your Tancho is 'lukeing gude"....
