    This thread is very interesting - I know where you got these pics from-was very surprised to see how old these fish are and their size. Boy, I think we ALL have a lot to learn about judging!! LOL

    Give it another day and then let everyone else in on the gag! (where these pics are from) so they can see for themselves what the joke is all about!!

    Yeah, I got these pics from one dealer. The contrast of choices is very different than the finished threads I have setup before. The unfinished fish have better pattern, where as the finsihed fish are kinda off of what we would tend to choose.

    for show, I go with A but A is not a keeper for long term.

    for tategai, based the tips I got from Mr. Fujita today. I would go with D for long term. has nice body confirmation and the fish still has a couple years to grow. the sumi is not even half grow yet which is about right for this size.

    Pick one for best tategoi and pick one for best to show now.

    Have fun with this excercise.

    Question I'll give it a whirl

    Today's show;
    B Best body/pattern/finish combination
    E Best finish today, clean body, weak pecs.
    D Nice body, strong pecs, weak sumi
    A Thick midsection, pointy nose, small pecs for body, weak sumi finish.
    C Smooth Torpedo body, proportional pecs, pointy nose, decent finish.

    Tategoi?;
    B Broad head + hi pattern + potential sumi development on skull cap.
    D Best overall body of the bunch, strong skull indicating growth potential, Sumi development is the biggest wildcard.
    A Also good growth potential based on skull/shoulder area, Sumi potential at shoulders and top fin.
    E Some growth potential but will the finish hold/improve or fall back?
    C Skinny with weak growth potential. May be pretty, but not strong.

    I would pick B for show today and D for growing for future.

    B, D & E have such nice wide heads, I can only focus on them. E gives a more complete picture, but I would not say she was finished. I'd select E for today, but I have a problem picking just one for tategoi. I do not care for B's pattern, so I'm stuck with both D & E for the future.

    My favorite as is to enter a show, E.

    The one I would pick for top future potential, probably D. I like the body, especially the head. But pecs look a little small, and the picture is a little dark, so cannot see whats the brightness/color.

    B looks like it has a much better skin quality, but almost impossible to judge from a picture. But the head pattern reaaly puts me off.
