    Dealing with loss....

Just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words first off. Last week I lost more than half of my pond to a chlorine overdose(left the tap water on). I think I am over the loss, but it is still hard to think about it. For now I am taking a break from the hobby until my water matures again and I know the fish in my pond are destressed from the incident.

Lucky for me I still have my mudpond project I am still working on and hopfully seining it in March to see how things are.

Just wanted to wish everyone happiness and zen with their hobby. Hope to see some of you at Gardena ZNA and All-Bay Area Koi Show.

    Peace,
    Tony

    thanks for the contact TONY!

I think if your in this hobby for any length you'll be gut punched with something

you didn't see coming. I've been there and so have others. I only hope for others as with you, that you get over it with a doubled zeal to get beyond the loss and learn and avoid other traps. That comes from people like yourself explaining what happened and what steps need to be taken to avoid it. Our hobby needs folks like you...thanks for hanging in there!

    Tony,

I'm very sorry for your loss. I'd love to hear more about your mud pond project in the future. Looking forward to seeing you again at the All Bay show.

Glad to see you back. For me, getting some new koi faces in the pond helped get rid of the images of my little buddies floating around.

Have you thought about a prefilter so it doesn't happen again? You can also lower the almighty tds and ph to your liking.

    Hi Tony,

I didn't know the details until now, but I've been there too and can appreciate how you feel. As we say in my part of the UK, "I'm gutted for you".
Look forward now, not back. Adversity makes us stronger.

Im sorry for your losses. I surely dont know anyone who hasnt had something happen to their fish at one time or another. Usually words cant help the feeling of depression we all feel when this happens. I wish you success with your mud pond & hope you feel emotionally better soon. rg
