Anybody want to comment or rank these 3 Omosako tosai? Please note these are scanned pics so they arent the greatest.

working from left to right if sex is not an issue
#1-center photo, #2-left of center-#3 right of center

I say it in those terms as have a hunch the left picture is of a boy

I'd select middle one based on length/width of head, state of Sumi....and I like the pattern.

I like the middle one because of the unfinished but pleasing pattern, conformation is not bad.

One on the left is the only one with WHITE Shiro. The other two have a ton of black underneath the shiro...but that only tells ya that the pattern could change ALOT. It doesn't have to, but the WHITE Shiro is a better indicator that the Sumi is set...but not a sure thing either.
The middle one has the poorest quality sumi..but it is baby sumi. I wonder if that a determinant of the quality of sumi later? I'll say YES.
So for me I'll go with the third one....good sumi, and the whitest head..and I've had shiros that were dark skinned and went white....
    third is it

Check out Bito issue #3. It may help you with what you're looking for. I like the 3rd shiro based on what I read from that issue featuring Omosako shiros.

Although it may not be the champ, I like the one on the far right. Nice, deep sumi. I also like that the black is even on both pectoral fins.

You think you're Lawrence Welk or something? That's ah 1, ah 2, ah 3!! LOL!!

I think you're seeing A LOT of baby sumi here on all these fish. I've had Omosako shiro before. Usually the better quality ones at tosai exhibit much better shiroji. #1 and #3 both look like they will be very heavy patterned fish. #1 has better color in the pecs but that strong sumi is going to change. #2 and #3 have too much sumi in the pecs and tail IMHO. Omosako's fish have a tendancy to continue to just keep getting darker and darker. In the article Erwin mentions above Omosako talks about the Taiwanese who buy his tosai nearly completely white and wait for the sumi to develop - an interesting contrast to these three
