Good body conformation and very interesting hi pattern.

But hi on the shoulder seems to be fading or broken or something... an indication that something you need to check out before buying it....

    Paul,

as this koi is Doitsu, the pattern should be as sharp as a knife. The picture is not very sharp, but not sure about the division between the pattern and base.

Not only the window on the shoulder, but also the light spot on the left side where the dorsal fin begins, has me wondering if this is a koi you would buy for showing.

Another thing I noticed is the shape of the pectoral fins. In the picture they do not seem to be the same size and shape, but this might just be the picture.

If you are interested in showing a metallic koi you had better be sure it has a very bright metallic sheen on it's fins and on it's head and shoulder. Actually on as much of the body as possible. THis can be very difficult to determine in a photo.

Negatives are being pointed out. This variety has a tendency to be weak in the tail and get too plump an abdomen. Cannot tell from this photo angle, but be careful on that. Pectorals seem to have some color tint in photo. If accurate, this is not desirable. I'd also point out the positives: extremely clean head, nice shine on the head if photo is accurate.

Really up to the judges on how this fish will do. But we must look at what this is...This fish is Hikari(metallic). The head looks very clean with no staining and looks consistant throughout the fish. As far as conformation goes, it is fine for it's size, they do tend to be short and stubby as they grow. The pattern is interesting and stands out on the clean metallic finish.

    Paul,

if for showing purposes, also think what competition it will have in the class it will be entered in in the show you want to enter it in.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for the comments, keep them comming.

What other varieties would this be up against in a show in the uk, is the show class for this hikarimoyo which then i would think kujaju as one.

If not in a separate doitsu class, I think it would have a tough time against a good Kujaku.

It is certainly a pretty nice koi. Show? Not so much.
