That's a very interesting tidbit of info on the Southeast Asian country cultures. I guess I saw some of that in Japan when Kato-san invited us to his dinner party the night before the Nogyosai Show. It was a true "who's who" of breeders and they seated us with a table of High ranking officials from ZNA Organizations from Malaysia, Taiwan and Indonesia. They were very classy gentlemen and treated us with a high level of respect. I enjoyed that party more than most of the other things we've done on recent trips. Kato-san is a very gracious host but I can only imagine what that party must have cost him.

All this is very interesting but I still believe the most expensive koi is the dead one. Love this hobby!

Hmmmmmm....If those days of enjoyment are days in one's own pond where the fish can be seen each day, rather than days of anticipation for the fish left in mud ponds for years on end, the Japanese GCs are more expensive than the large purchase price seems. A 7 year koi purchased after her fourth season and left in the hands of a skilled breeder may be seen on perhaps a couple of dozen occasions before being entered in the show. The $100,000 cost, plus grow fees, party costs, etc... very expensive per day. On the other hand, if we include days of anticipation, well, we can all dream for free.

That's why I don't have to watch those old "B" horror movies anymore - I resemble them too much-HaHaHaHa!!!!!! Maybe that's why, when you get older, you want to sleep in - kinda hard to face the mirror every morning - LOL!!
