Thanks for sharing Mark once again, it is hard to find a photographer that can take the pics you take. By far you have the some of the best pics on the net.

    You're right about that, Tony.

Funny thing is, on another board I shared some tips Mark had been kind enought to post on his forum; you know, basic camera & flash settings, distance and angle to shoot koi from, that kind of stuff.

No one seemed to care. Guess they didn't know who or what Mark is -- and therefore couldn't appreciate the value of his advice.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Beautiful Koi and well deserving of their placements. It is interesting to see the type of Gin Rin Scales on the Reserve Champion. Since this is a breeders show all the judges were of course breeders.

I have heard a fair number of hobbyist judges state they find these types of GR scales a distraction and feel they spoil the beauty of a koi. What do the rest of you think.

    Ray,

Are the scales you are referring to, which are not patterned but kinda rogue ones which are the result of excellent quality scales?

I think it is a misunderstood quality that shows quality. It comes with a different kind of skin that becomes better with age.

I agree Russell. The Gin (actually primitive, un/under developed) is just one first glance indicator of skin Quality...typically.
