From someone who helped (a little only) this weekend at the ZNA NorCal show, it would also have to be a 100 volunteer show. And there aren't any better volunteers than were at the show this weekend. Even they would throw up their hands in desperation at the thought of putting up, taking down, and keeping track of all the fish in those 100 tanks.

Would be a sight to behold for sure!! It would take a few crews to manage that show!!!

    You Can See It!

All Japan Shinkokai Koi Show February 2nd and 3rd 2008. It is amazing how fast they do the set up and tear down. They have many hands helping.

It nearly happened over here, but for the wrong reasons.
A Show Chair thought it would be a PR coup and tried to drive our
National Show in that direction. But the demand wasn't there and it would
have just meant spreading out the existing exhibits thinly. Hardly a spectacle.

Our National currently puts out around 70+

Maybe if there was an AllCal show. Only area with enough koi hobbiest that show within a day's drive.

    100 Tanks is Possible, however

A 100 tank show is possible but not with our current portable tanks. As anyone who has been a part of a show knows, the setup and tear down is the worst part.

Even worse when you have multiple clubs tanks to sort out (love those rings!)

A few clubs in Texas have chanegd over to the solid six foot tanks that stack. Set up is to roll them off the trailer, carry to spot.
Breakdown, empty water, clean, load on trailer.

I've talked to a few people about this, but the general response is that they are too invested in the folding tanks to consider the option.

I would submit that in time the existing tanks are going to leak, tear, and need replacement.

A coalition of clubs could pool resources to change over.

Maybe I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.

Bernie can tell us I think the BKKS changed over to solid vats in the mid 1990s? They were great but remember to put a separator in before stacking them!! A cut 2 X4 or styro block, or they will be near impossible to separate and valuable time and energy will be wasted trying to pry them apart! Been there -done that! JR

PS. also storing 100 of these hard vats is a challenge so think about that. You will need considerable storage area.

After being one of a team of 5 or so that set up 46 tanks at Koi America, I can tell you that it would take a massive volunteer supply and if MAKC can't muster the volunteers the I doubt very much any other club could.

The overall logistics of setting up a 100 tanks, water quality, benching etc would have people running in the opposite direction.....

    not me
