    Moving to Az?

I'm going to drive them over to Az in the back of my pickup but I was wondering about a holding tank for when I get there. I was think of doing a portable pool the ones with the blow up ring for the top until I get my pond done. What do you think? Any suggestion?

    Thanks Steve

why not just bag/box with O2 and a pinch of Elbagin and put the bags in coolers? coolers are easiler to tie down and you will not have a HUGE amout of water mass moving on a quick start or stop. I dare say that is how most of us move koi to shows. It is also how I moved our fish from Dallas to Atlanta...in June.

That's how I'm going to move them but I was thinking of the pool thing once I got them over there.

Man Steve your leaving LB? I think the best thing and more relieable would be the metal frame above ground pool...I think WallMart has a 13' ft in stock, I was there today....

I saw they have a 12'x36" deep for $98 with the blow up ring on the top. I think it should be good enough for a 6 month time frame. My brother in law got all exited and thought I was going to build him a pond and bring my Koi. Sorry that isn't going to happen but we could build him a pond but not with my koi.

The only thing about 6 months is that's the summer time which is 120 degrees. I thought of putting a canopy over the pool for shade and shade screens on the sides.

The pool with the top air ring worked well for a friend, but was not in use for so long a time. Filtration is an issue because the top ring cannot support weight. For a 6 month period, you really need to consider a full-system temporary pond. Some of the designs used for over-wintering in basements up North should work for you, but keep in mind that you will be using this during warm season/high growth period. Filtration and waste disposal is going to be more of an issue. Full shade is going to be essential. Above ground pools quickly become the same temp as the air. That alone may frazzle the immune systems of your fish in an Arizona summer.

instead of the blow up top how about one like this. I figure I could put bigger bulkheads in.

It used to be that this type of pool had algaesices on them. Is that still the case? If so your fish will go bye-bye.
