SFF kohaku

This kohaku caught my eye from the SFF auction. Good uniform bodyline with decent tail tube, thick even beni, shiro that is snow white and a well balanced maruzome pattern that looks like one that would belong to a GC. My questions are these:-

1. There seems to be a sashi break as well as a kiwa break in the shoulder area. Are these signs of future weakness in the hi plate?

2. Is the fish looking way too finished for an ake sansai 61cm? I normally buy koi for the future, not to finish too young.

I am NOT bidding for the fish, but just thought I'd post this as a learning experience.

From what I know of Sensuke bloodline Kohak the sashi pulls in and becomes tighter. As far as it becoming weaker, I would say it will probably lighten up as the fish gets bigger but the beni will have depth and thickness.

No not really. For me, as long as it maintains a youthfulness as it goes from one year to the next, it wouldnt be a problem to me.

PPP,

We have the same discussion with our dealer when we purchassed our Yamato from the october auction. It looks to us that the sashi and kiwa looked very "finished" for a nisai. We also tend to buy koi for the future. Our dealer said we don't have to worry about that because the Yamato offspring look very "mature" at this age..in comparrison to other bloodlines from SFF. So we take the gamble with her, but we have to wait to the end of the year, because she go first into the mudpond for the summer. She is not so beautifull like her sister nr. 8 but we are still very pleased with her..

gr,
Ingrid
