    Help- disease

Here are the pictures. I put him in a separate tank, put in Melafix, some salt, and stress coat. I plan to treat for a week and see how things look. This is bacterial correct? Any suggestions? TIA.

Clean it up, seal it and use an injectable antibiotic. Your couse of treatment will probably not accomplish a thing.

Ditch the mela & stress coat, this isn't the time or place for Mela to start with. As for the stress coat, its not something recomended. A sick fish doesn't need this on the gills possibly coating them.

As Russ said, clean it up, seal it and go with some antibiotics.

Russ is giving you good advise. That is an internal ( below the skin) infection , most likely pseudomonas from the look of the lesion. You can not hope to help the fish overcome it with water preperations and water treatments.
This is a tricky infection and you will need to keep at it, espcially this time of year.

Here is a shot of a wound cultured for pseudomonas and aeromonas likely as only a secondary infection---
