'Top'? How can there be a 'top' one if they are unknown?! Is this like that secret Guru that sits on top of the mountain in Tibet that people spend a life time searching for?
    Sorry couldn't resist! LOls JR

This kind of reminds me of the old joke that everyone can be at the top of some list depending on how you parse it.

    Let's see:

The top 5 breeders of yamata's that has never had a koi place at any koi show
The top 10 breeders of benigoi that placed with unpatterened kawari at a show
The top 3 breeders willing to sell their koi to a dealer on credit and willing to wait to be paid in six months

or --- "Gaijin, this is my top number one tosai"

meaning, the top #1 actually for sale
meaning, the now top # 1 as the 'other #1 ' was just sold yesterday and now this is the top one

I think the thread should have been named "Top" Japanese breeders unknown to American Hobbyist or unavailble to American Hobbyist.

I think one of those breeders until they're All-Japan Showing was Ueno. Whoelse?

I think this thread very much mirrors one on NI.

If you're breeding high class Nishikigoi of any variety then you get known, at the end of the day, getting known is only a phone call away, 'Hi Ryuki, i've got some stunning ..........'
