Koi Socitey of Australia May Show

I posted this back in May on NI. As there is a bit of interest, I am posting it here too

GC - 62cm female Kohaku owned by Ming Van. I am told she is kept with 20 koi in 80,000L

I put together some numbers on this in 2007. As an estimate, about 1 million koi are bred to keeper size in New South Wales each year. 350,000 of these are bred via local dealers. I know of one farm that produce about 100,000 fingelings each year. Of these half are sent to pet shops and the rest are sold as feeders.

I do not have data on what happens in Western Australia.
