Timely post considering JR's comments on KOTY... Doitsu showa, good face... all you need is the little gal home and with the number of photos you take, she should end up being photogenic in no time!

As far as my opinion goes on her...

As stated, the back half is a little empty, but hopefully some sumi will start poppin' to help it along. I think this showa has a very youthful look to her which will serve well for the future. (one would hope anyway)

Congrats Ethan on your continued success in upgrading your residents. I know most (all) of your best fish are currently residing elsewhere, but great timing IMO considering the disaster you've got going with your pond. Best wishes to you.

    JNorth-

here are some pictures I had my friend take for me. As you can see, the white area in the back has a blue hue to it, showing underlying sumi (hopefully, right?!). He's working on getting some more pictures. The key will be to get some good growth in the mud this year, and then depending on how big it is when it comes out, and where the beni is, will help me decide whether to leave it in the mud for another year. Right now just over 15 inches and nisai (born spring of 2007 from what I gather).

Yup those are better shots . I think she will look a lot better to my eye when the sumi comes up to fill in some of that white.

I do believe it is female. It's from Quality Koi, and I think that was fairly certain.

She is in the mud growing down in Kentucky. She will be harvested this fall, and I plan on being there. A few pictures of her now in the mud. Her body is filling out well.

For me this koi is NOT balanced, way to much beni on the front half and not enough on the right rear. It is a pond grade koi nothing more nothing less.

I am sure you will learn a great deal from watching this koi grow.
