    Bakki shower filtration

I would like to hear from folks who uses BS for their primary bio-filtration? Do you run straight from BD's to BS with or without additional fines filtration? In my case the filtration is above water level, but I would prefer not to use bead filters and additional pumps. Any ideas?

I am not aware of anyone using a shower filter as their sole or primary system, except Momotaro and perhaps the dealer Yume Koi on some ponds. I would recommend the practice for the reasons given in the discussion of the Bakki Shower on this board a few years ago. I think JR made his points effectively.

I could see doing it in a warm climate where you don't care about an chilling...and you want to keep DO at max.

Can't help you out there. I run mine through a bead first and then over the bakki (which is going to get shut down for the winter today ).

Even Momotaro runs their bottom drains through some serious settlement chambers before pumping to the Bakki's, and I sure wouldn't want to try it without some sort of fines removal first. A bead may be more than you need, but vortex settlement is the minimum I'd attempt.

Thanks everyone, ever since I thought about adding fines removal, the cost has just jumped three fold. I like to see filtering, so I was hoping I could find a way, cost in mind, to add screening of some sorts. Some argue no treatment before BS and other argue must have it. I just do not know. Ever since my water dropped out of the 80's everything has been crystal clear. No-for those thinking I should go to a chiller, too expensive to run-heating in winter is bad enough.
    Thanks,
    Bob
