    Comments on my showa

    Hi

Some of you might remember that not too long ago i lost my treasured kohaku. Yesterday my dealer sold me this showa at a discounted price. I know very little about showa and i just want comments from all of you. What are the strength and weaknesses of this koi. I dont have a picture so i have given a link to the dealer's website of this koi

    Thanks

I like it, good body & shiroji with deep beni. From what I can tell via the video and pic the skin is of high quality. The only thing I don't like is the menkaburi(sp?) head pattern.

Thanks for your comments. By the way what is a menkaburi? I also dont particularly fancy the head. Too much red and no pattern. I am just hoping some of the underlying sumi will come up strongly and give it a better look, but its probably wishful thinking. Truth be told i actually dont like the pattern of this koi but when i saw it for the first time it just look powerful to me, like a very strong koi, macho like if i may use the term. I know we dont evaluate kois like that but then again i am just a beginner

You answered your own question, it is a hooded pattern. For showa the menware may form in a few years, you'll just have to wait and see. It's a keeper if it was mine.

Here is one I've been playing with for the last 3 years. Menkaburi head pettern w/ the development of the menware.
