Outside Where to take it when you just can't be civil anymore...for threads that have become a little "too much" for our regular threads. We still reserve the right to shut it down when things have gone too far.

Childers you are not alone

Here was my reply to a thread where some "person" pointed out similarities that they believe KoiUSA has copied from Koi Nation...

"This is about as silly and weak an attack as I have ever read
well well...I think Koi nations Is the Flatterer..
KoiUSA Published a magazine about koi and then Koi Nations Copied practically everything that KoiUSA was already doing..
for instance
Did you notice they both number their pages?
they both are written in English?
They both have Pictures of Koi and such?
I mean practically everything KoiUSA was Doing Koi Nations is now copying!

Do you think I sound foolish? buy a tape recorder...

Well,
my email bov was filled this morning with emails from folks regarding the KP thread. First of all there are a limited variety of article and writers within the hobby. There is bound to be some duplication over time. For the record, KOI USA does not pay it's writers for submitting articles. About 50% of our articles are by "regulars" and the other 50% from unsolicated submissions. The author of the article in question first approached me about his subject matter late last summer and I encouraged him to write it up and submit it for consideration. Upond receiving such in the fall, I scheduled it for a future issue and in fact had to delay it at least once due to article flow and seasonal timings. The point being that the article has been "in the hopper" for some time. We attempt to deliver articles on a wide cross variety of interests with hopefully a something for everyone style of approach to the magazine.

I don't read KN so I am really not up to what their "mix" of articles are. I have heard counter claims from KOI USA subscribers time and time again but as I said, within a specialized hobby there are bound to be similarities between two magazines within the same specialized hobby. This has happened frequntly over the last two years and to me it is a non issue since no one has ever seen me posting these types of claims and I am sure Michael Cox would not, nor condone such from his fans.

Hang in there, Steve. This, too, shall pass.

Your BoD has every confidence in you and the fine job you've done re-focusing KoiUSA on koi while at the same time serving as the house organ for AKCA and its 104 member clubs in the USofA and Canada.

Thirty-three proud years serving the hobby -- and still counting.

Not to worry Don....Just my "fan club" once again speaking out. I was actually shocked that Luke jumped over the fence on this one.

I always find it amusing when these "non posters" crawl out of the woodwork. But only when the Kool Aid king is trying to stir up trouble.
