The Great KoiPhen Weigh-In!

I've been watching the 'Great Weigh-In' on Stephen's KoiTV...looks like they just wrapped things up and are enjoying watching the great herd he's collected. No one fell in, either!

I, for one, am eager to read the results. I am sure Stephen will let us know soon how they measured up and will open the now-closed Koiphen board so everyone can read about it. An interesting day for the hobby...thanks!

Very interesting (and surprising). So the Sarge stayed the same and Sanke and Shiro put on .5" inch since the spring. Its hard to get growth from Koi that are already that large. I wonder if the sedation while handling them (in the case of the Sanke and Shiro) caused them close down their tail fin a lot more than usual, I would have never guessed that mesurements could be that far apart.

yeah, i think there is a lesson here. if you want to grow a big fish, get someone else to do it, then have that person deliver it to the show for you.


and don't get your housesitter to measure your fish.

ugh, how did I know this thread would go this route.

I still don't see why everybody harps on the fact that Steven had a very beautiful koi delivered to a show by the dealer? This is highly common and perfectably acceptable. Yet you keep mentioning it like you think it will hurt his reputation or something. I don't get it.
