Steve the sad part is it took this guy 15 years, to learn how to dig a hole, throw the dirt in a corner, and throw in a liner, and dump a load of gravel, and put some big rocks in key locations.. I wonder how long it would take any of those IPPCA people to learn how to build a real pond.

Hi Nancy,

Thanks for posting this information. I heard about this a while back from Burt but did not get the follow up. Frank does great work. I hope that postying this on this forum, and hopefully others, will help people understand what not to do.

Thank you Russ, I will tell Frank what you said.

The sad part is as long as people like IPPCA are around and spilling there lies to homeowners that have not done real good homework.. These type of koi ponds will continue to be built. And there will always be another unhappy koi hobbiest.

This picture was taken last month, the pond is maturing and the plants surrounding it are growing in nicely. I think this pond turned out beautiful, and all the hardscape Frank did, really just ties it all together.

What a difference a better pond and a little time makes.

You know if you just sit back and wait awhile the truth eventually seems to come out. No wonder that pond builder board lets Hawley spin his attacks on koi organizations and certain koi hobbyists and dealers.

Without koi organizations, informed hobbyists, and honest dealers providing information on building properly designed koi ponds, it could be a lot easier for some of their members to build and sell poorly designed and constructed water gardens and claim they are proper enviornments for koi.

I'll bet Dick and Gigi over at the Lawnmowers & Landscapers board are spitting blood on this one. What a colossal black eye for their 'professional' organization.

Say, I wonder if there's a story with a moral for KoiUSA magazine in this sad but true tale of deception & deceit?

Oh, and have you been banned over there -- yet?
