From R&G To Koi Pond

A friend of mine had a "koi Pond" built by a member of the IPPCA, after the homeowner started losing fish after 6 months, they started to question what they had as a koi pond. Well after research they found out they had a water garden pond.. " not a true koi pond". Well a member of the IPPCA, in California was going to rebuild this pond with his fellow IPPCA members, it was going to be the "top Gun" of koi pond rebuilds, is was to be built to Burt Ballou's exact specifications, regarding depth, filtration, drains, etc.. A little debate went on over the filtration and specifications with the contractor. After the home owner got wind that there home was going to be turned into a 3 ring circus. They choose not to have this contractor build there new pond

As time went by they finally convinced Frank to build them there new pond, here are some pictures of the before and after.

Wow! From Ugly Betty to Heidi Klum -- now that's a makeover.

Who ended up footing the bill, anyway? I know I read about this lawsuit pond before, but I can't seem to recall that detail.

Homeowners ended up footing the bill, the IPPCA did not honor there deal they made in the court room.

It is so very hard to get folks to understand that a koi pond is a pond designed for large riverine carp. A pond with koi is not automatically a koi pond.

But....the obligation is always with the owner. Know what you want/need. Put in writing. Watch the builder like a hawk. If anything is not going to plan....stop the work!

Glad this pond ended up as a nice koi pond!

So the original contractor was an IPPCA member and the owners had it in writing that it was to be a koi pond? Crazy.

Who was that putz, anyway? And how did the IPPCA get off the hook?
