While I think "school" is probably closest..... who cares?

Given that nishikigoi as we currently know them never existed in the wild, my suggestion for an appropriate collective noun would be simply.... a "pond" of koi.

of course I 'herd' of koi keepers! They are a group of individuals who dig a hole in the backyard, that they then fill with water and money!-- and then more money! Everyone has herd of them?! JR

I "herd" koi can be very exspensive and I "herd" it can cost one even more following proper husbandry
