We can find a blackish line in main bone of dorsal fin and tail fin among Asagi, Soragoi and Ochiba....
Finally................a voice of reason. It has absolutley no Ochiba in it.

It is a poor example of a doitsu lemon hariwake because...............it is not one. Actually it is a bad picture. The quality of this Koi is quite nice.

It does appear to have some lateral patterning, but I don't know if that would tip the scale as to definition...
Ooops.................sorry but it is a kind of Kigoi. Yes it is.............really, would I kid you.

Hi Nancy,

This is something I bought from Jirosuke while I was pulling some Kigoi out of a tank. I have never seen anything like it before either but it has the same quality of yellow as the other Kigoi I bought.
Since I was standing next to the breeder, or in this case the grower of the Koi, I though I would ask him. He told me that it was a Gin Rin Doitsu Kigoi. Morfe specifically than that it is called a "Koyo". I don't know if that is the correct spelling but a "Koyo" is a Doitsu Kigoi with a pattern. This one just happens to have Gin Rin on it scales so itg is a Gin Rin Doitsu Kigoi.

I sold this to Brad at the San Diego Koi Show. Brad, you have a Gin Rin Doitsu Kigoi with a pattern. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

It might just be easier to call it a "Koyo".

From my limited knowledge, Gin Rin refers to shiny reflective scales, and Doitsu refers to a smooth scaleless fish. How can a Doitsu fish be Gin Rin at the same time? I thought not, but maybe I'm wrong. I thought a metallic Doitsu fish is called Kin Doitsu, not Gin Rin.

Yes, the few scales it does have do have Gin Rin. Thus the Gin Rin part. It is not a metallic Koi.
