If "Koyo" means "Yellow LEAVES" as Junichi stated, what may have been lost in the translation is the relationship to the Ochiba patterning with yellow/white as the pallet. Rather more like "Yellow Leaves on Snow "than "Autumn Leaves on Water". (Beats the crap out of the other kind of yellow stuff on snow)

I just went to Ebay and found a koi exactly like that one and Russ you are right..the Ebay breeder said the same thing as your breeder.
Jaspr you and I must be wrong.
BTW did you see that breeder with the Sensational 16 inch "Jumbo tequila Sunrise" variety... from "japanese stock" too!
