If I'm not mistaken the famous fingerling potatoes are a white fleshed potato with yellow colored skin...

In the town of Himitsu the town during that time was 100% potato farmers, the Emporer demanded that all farmers convert to rice farming. "Thus the potato uprising" started against the Emporer.....

Yes the Samurai did come to the aid and lead the villagers to a win.
