Cool?

Just barely.

The snow in Japan can accumulate to 12 feet high. The entire area is bowl shaped. The houses have doors on the second floor in some cases. The largest mud ponds are smaller than a small lake. The reserviors are larger and certainly wind can likely clear off some of the snow some of the time. But ice that thick is still opaque.

when you come into the Niigata area via bullet train, you realize that you are entering a series of closed off valleys. Mountains tend to ring the towns and villages.

Welcome to Japan-----

The first photo I took in the previous post is late morning on a snowy day in Yamakoshi.

Just for fun, you see the Saito boys in front of the family house and sign? Here it is with NO snow on the ground, just a Peter' standing in the same place fooling around ----

well all I know is what i saw on that Penguin Movie...and there was plenty of snow on the topside of the ice, and the ice was plenty thick, but there was a good amount of light under it.

I've been reading this guy's blog (don't know who he is but it has been interesting) and most of the ponds in his snow pics are wind-swept clean
The Yamakoshi Year
But his pics around the houses show huge snowfalls...and the reason is????????????

Luke . . .

I demand an apology.

And your word that you won't engage in changing quotes again.

Not mine. Not anyone else's. Not on any koi board.

Why?

Because you've engaged in it for years. Just last month on KoiShack you did the exact same thing, got caught and were chastised -- but obviously haven't seen fit to modify your offensive behavior.

It's time for it to stop. And it's time for all the koi boards to hold you accountable.
_____

For those who aren't familiar with the crap he pulls, here's the example I referenced above.

Graham posted: I don't think that you would be disappointed in any of them especially Art's judging one.

You changed it so that when you quoted him it read: I don't think that you would be disappointed in any of them except Art's judging one.

Cheryl Childers caught it immediately and posted: The question should be what do YOU have against Art, lukie. You are the one going around changing people's posts.

Steve Childers caught it and posted: Luke, I think we need to have a talk. That is NOT what Graham posted and YOU changed it.

At first you tried to laugh it off with: LOL, come on if you caught it everyone else should and I was expecting some banter from Graham...friendly banter, where Graham would expound on the worth of attending Art's presentation...

Then Dale, the site administrator, posted: I want to remind all folks that when registering, logging and entering into koishack you agree to abide by the guidelines...

Misrepresentation will not be tolerated and will be frowned upon and subject to disciplinary actions...

So then you tried to justify what you'd done and posted this: note to all...this thread woulda gone nowhere...and it didn't.

Yep personally I was very interested in Joe white's talk about his trip to japan....he is more insightful than most, and will provide a wealth of current information....

BTW on a number of posts I have CHANGED some words in the post I quote and no one has had any problem at all and found it entertaining...I usually do so to get the original poster motivated to address the issue again....this time I must have hit a nerve...
if you haven't caught it in other posts then you weren't reading very carefully.

To which Cindy Coombs replied: But Luke....it is not fair to change someone's quote. It's not fair to them and it is not fair to anyone else who reads the words. If you want to motivate someone to post, find another way of doing it. Changing someone's words to suit your own purposes is dishonest.

And to which Dale posted: somewhat disappointed in you luke....for i was giving you the benefit of the doubt...

perhaps i expected more from you....or wanted to...

i thought that you would use your insight, judgement, intelligence and knowledge of this hobby to motivate discussion.....as you have shown you can do in the past....and have contributed to meanful educational discussions in the past....

rather then resort to cheap tactics that others have used so frequently in the past....with other "mo's".....

i thought you were better then that?

It was then that JR posted: yea, that was pretty bad Luke. I get that sometimes you just can't help yourself, but when an idea like that pops into your head again, just lie down until the urge goes away.

And Steve Childers added: Luke,There is a difference in statung your own opinion and chaning the written opinion of another. That is the SAME behavior exibited by some that you take issue with on other boards. Do you want others to think of you in the same way?

At which point you posted: I consider myself duly chastised...but there was no malice in it...except i wanted Graham to pucker up a nbit.

So what did you learn, Luke?

Apparently not a GD thing.

Koicop,
What no Latin?
I'm sorry you can't take a joke.
I do appreciate the attention. really.
you posted and then I "quoted it" with revisions right after it. And not in any malice way, and not in a format which you weren't invited to react to...unlike getting Graham to pucker up, I got you to.
many Thanks.

Well, without checking the background out here I will say one thing. Quoting a member's post and then changing the text of the post is a big no-no. From this point on out, it will be considered a violation and penalized by Jim and myself accordingly.

Can we please bring the focus of the board back to koi?
