    DIY project Coach come look!!!!

Sean and I will soon be working on building a goldfish and garden pond. I was wondering what might make a good return from the small DIY filter we will be using and decided I wanted to make a bamboo deer scare.

Here is our proto type version, yes someone wasn't paying attention as they drilled the holes. Its mostly ready for plumbing and something to knock against. I am thinking about making another smaller fountain out of bamboo as well.

When Sean heard me rummaging about in his workshop area he grew curious to see what I was up too. I might have bought him the toys, but they are "his" toys. (in reference to HIS drill press, cut off saw, and ban saw.)

You know, it's been a few years since i've seen a deer scarer in action....what a great idea! I always loved them in a japanese garden.

Coupla things i might suggest....the bamboo looks pretty green. Stalks that are three years old are better to use then first or second year stuff. they last longer. You may want to try and fit some clear tubing inside the spout to lengthen the life or have another replacement part ready to go when the first one wears out.

When you get it up and running be sure and share it with us all

I took your advice and I have found a local source of "aged" bamboo. The prices are not real expensive, but the poles are a set length so I should have lots of left over material.
