    New Pond, Patio, and Sunroom

I have long wanted to enclose my patio pond in a sunroom but never could come up with a good design to fit the triangle shape of the patio. So I decided to just extend the patio, make it rectangular, and enclose that.

The new patio will be 56 feet long off the back of the house, and extend out 24 feet. This added space gave me enough room for a new pond. The new pond will be separate from the old pond, but when finished, look like it's all one pond with a flagstone walk way across it. The old 6700 gallon pond will be for the males, and the new 12,000 gallon pond will be for the females.

The new pond will be a river flow design. 6 feet at the shallow end, 8 feet deep at the deep end, 24 feet long. It will be gunite, then shot with polyurea.

Two 4" bottom drains feed two Cetus Sieves, then two Evolution ES 8500 pumps will feed my fiberglass shower. The shower exits will pass through two 4" foam extractors, then to the waterfall. Figuring head from the Cetus sieves to the shower the pumps will be pinched back a bit but I'll be running as much water as the sieves can flow, close to 10,000 gph. This is exactly the same system as I have on the old pond.

Two Waterway skimmers modified to 4" will feed two more Cetus Sieves, each with a ES 8500 pump, each feeding a Sacramento Koi Advantage 10 bead filter. Each bead will return to the pond via under water returns at the shallow end. A third Advantage 10 has also bead added for the old pond.

A 4" mid water pick up will feed a 5th ES 8500, which feeds two Zapp Pure 20 UVs, then back to the pond via a third under water return at the shallow end. These three under water returns should flow close to 18,000 gph for a total flow of 28,000 gph.

So far the gunite crew has finished the rebar and will shoot the gunite Wed. I have finished all the filtration except the shower. 1st tray is in, but I need to split up 20 cubic feet of feather rock before I can go any farther.

Here's some assorted pictures of the progress.

    NICE!

It is good that your ponds are close to the house.

So many people put their ponds (and spas) out, far away, from the house.

I wouldn't have it any other way. I wish the ponds could be in the house but I'm hoping the new sun room will help that.

This looks like it should be outstanding. Stepping out the back door and into a sunroom is wonderful as it is, but with 2 Koi ponds to boot it will be a little slice of heaven

Gunite was shot today. It was almost dark by the time they finished.
